Background

Originally launching as a domestic gardening service, Managing Director Peter Lloyd launched his gardening and design company in 2017. Since then, the business has grown substantially, moving into commercial markets and winning a gold medal at the 2019 Southport Flower Show and silver at RHS Tatton 2021.

The aim of this project had several prongs, the first of which was to create a brand that reflected the high prestige of the sought-after company and targeted commercial markets rather than small domestic jobs. The second step was to create a bespoke website which highlighted the high level of quality the company offers through their services.

Brand Design

The new Gardens by Peter Lloyd logo takes away the “Gardens by” prefix and simply states “Peter Lloyd” in professional yet modern block capital typography. This was combined with a logo emblem that was designed to visually represent the company’s offering, and emulate the shape of the gold medal the company won in 2019.

Taking an aspirational approach is always key to help businesses compete within their market and sit above their competitors. The colours for the brand were chosen very carefully, using a royal green to stay in line with the greenery of gardening, and adding a metallic soft gold to celebrate the success of the business to date.

Website Design

Over the past 24 months before the launch of the new website, Gardens by Peter Lloyd have fully transitioned from a domestic gardening service to full scale commercial landscapers, yet the website still portrayed them as the former. It was really important that the new website represented the company in a professional manner and truly showcased their work.

Our award-winning team of designers and developers are experts in user experience and user interface design, so they were confident that the goals set by our client were achievable. We build a bespoke website with all points of entry covered, and a user journey that took website visitors through each section of the website seamlessly. 

Brand Activation

Following the successful launch of the new brand and website, we were commissioned to create bespoke business cards, letterheads, ID Cards and clothing for all Gardens by Peter Lloyd staff. In addition to this we designed and implemented two full bespoke van wraps, designed in the same style as the new brand. The vans included the logo, contact details and an overview of the company’s key services.

Additionally to the printed outputs, we created a full set of icons which are being used to break down all of the business’ services. These icons have been designed to fall in line with the visual aesthetic of the new brand and logo. Once the entire project was completed, we delivered a detailed brand guidelines document, outlining correct brand usage across various mediums.

Results

The multi award winning Gardens by Peter Lloyd now have a website and brand to be proud of. The new brand successfully represents them where they are as a business and the website showcases their outstanding work perfectly. Following the launch of the rebrand, the company had 3 new business enquiries within the first week.

Following the success of the website launch, Clixels were awarded with four CSS Design Awards for excellence in UI Design, UX Design, Innovation and Special Kudos from the CSSDA panel of judges.
