Background

After years of delivering iconic games and industry-leading titles, a new chapter was unfolding for one of gaming’s most ambitious creators. With a growing team, a major partnership with Netflix, and an expanding portfolio of studios, they needed a reimagined brand and digital presence to reflect their momentum and creativity.

Our mission was to create a cohesive brand ecosystem, individual studio identities, and digital platforms that celebrated their unique character while supporting their growth.

A family of brands

The heart of the transformation was creating a clear structure for their expanding brand. The overarching parent brand remained the guiding force – a proud and supportive figure that tied everything together. Beneath it, two new studio brands were born: Rockwater, home to creative minds behind the Queen’s Gambit Netflix Game, and Magma Works, a hub of innovation in Birmingham.

To capture the vibrant culture behind the company, we also introduced Ripstone Life. This brand gave their rebellious, personality-packed team a platform to shine, celebrating their people as much as their products.

Every brand within this ecosystem was carefully crafted to feel distinct yet undeniably part of the same creative family.

A suite of websites that feel alive!

We designed and built four websites, each tailored to reflect the essence of its brand.

The parent brand’s website took on the role of a proud mentor, showcasing the groundbreaking work of its studios and sharing updates through a lively community blog. This site became the ultimate storyteller for the brand’s journey and achievements.

Giving the brands personality

The Rockwater website dived straight into the studio’s creative process. A unique “deep water” animation invited users to explore by “going deeper” the further they navigated through the site. This immersive experience reflected the studio’s drive to push boundaries and discover new possibilities, making every interaction feel like a journey into uncharted waters.


For Ripstone Life, we broke free from traditional corporate norms to create something playful and full of character. Handwritten fonts, scribbles, and creative defacing elements gave the site an irreverent, rebellious energy. It perfectly captured the team’s personality, showcasing a side of the brand that was as bold and unconventional as the people behind it.

We put the company into the palm of their hands

To support their internal growth, we designed and built a custom app that became an integral part of daily life.

The app streamlined operations, allowing team members to book meeting rooms, access files, and arrange meetings with ease. But it wasn’t all about work – the app featured a gamified social feed where employees could celebrate achievements, share updates, and give kudos to teammates.

This balance of functionality and engagement helped strengthen team connections while keeping everything running smoothly behind the scenes.
